According to House Bill 876, the LRT extension enables Navotas residents the chance to find jobs in other parts of Metro Manila.

It can also draw residents from other areas in the metropolis to find work in Navotas, especially at the fish port complex.

“Thousands of buyers visit the port daily. Thousands more come and go for work at the port and its surrounding establishments and facilities, for other business activities,” Tiangco said.

Some of the largest commercial fishing vessels unload at least 300 tons of fish and other products at the fish port, which is considered the largest in Southeast Asia.

An additional volume of 50 tons are also brought to the port by overland vehicles from different provinces in Luzon.

Aside from supplying fish and other marine animal products to markets in Metro Manila, the fish port also serves as a business center with its various markets, ice plants and cold storage, fish processing facilities, canneries, and shipbuilding and ship repair facilities.
